B.A.G. reporting from Seattle Washington! I am here at the "Best of the Northwest Art Show" checking out some of the best arts and crafts that northwest United States has to offer. Over 200 exceptional artists presenting jewelry, designer clothing, painting, metal, glass and look at what we have here, wine tasting from 25 local boutique wineries. Wow, forget about the arts and crafts, let me at the wine tasting, ha!! Ha!!
I never understood wine tasting, because tasting and drinking are the same to me. I was at a wine tasting once with three of my friends and it turned out to be a party. Two of my buddies were really concentrating on the information and the techniques given by the host, but my friend Keith and I had different ideas. I am not going to go into details about how to taste wine, but I can tell you that Keith and I didn't sip. Each of us had eight glasses of wine and we were supposed to sip wine, sip water, and sip the next glass of wine. Keith and I didn't like wasting the wine, so we (slowly) downed the wine in sequence, and then proceed to down what was left over by our buddies. Keith and I both had 16 glasses of wine each and we didn't waste one drop of wine, ha!! Ha!! The glasses were not full, but we sure had a really good night. We didn't drive, because we all walked back to our hotel, or in our case, Keith and I kind of crawled.
All I am going to say about wine is, nobody can tell you how a wine is suppose to taste, because taste is very subjective. I might like the taste of glass number one, but you might think it is too fruity, so is glass number one good or bad? There is no right or wrong, or good or bad, because everybody have different taste. My conclusion, if it taste good to you, drink it!!
Sorry about the side track, let's get back to the show. The first thing I liked was being inside, thank god!! Most shows that I have been to are outside, so a show inside a warm dry building gets a gold star from me already. Without lengthy description of all 200 plus artist's works, I am happy to say that I will be back next year. I enjoyed every second of the show and these artists are so talented!!
One side note, although I enjoyed and appreciated what I saw, I don't understand who the hell would buy some of these stuff. I guess art is just like wine, very subjective!! I can tell, all these artists are very talented and they really love their work, but passion do not put money on the table. Why would I buy a painting that looks like what my six years old can draw? Why would I buy a ring that looks like an ugly piece of rock? Oh, it is a piece of ugly rock!! I guess that is why there are so many starving artists in the world. Yes, it is amazing what all of these artists can do, but some art sales and some just looks artistic.
Some of you might ask, where are the pictures? Well, I forgot the stupid camera, what can I say? I need a spanking, that is what I need, ha!! Ha!! Sorry, no pictures!! You people just have to go next year and check it out yourself.
Here ends part one of my excursion to the big land across the border, see you next time.
My daughter, the artist!!!!
